Bible

1. Read Matthew 20: 17-19
2. Description: Verses 17-18 Jesus knew that he would suffer and die. This was the third occasion on which he warned his *disciples about this. Matthew emphasizes that they were going up into the hills towards Jerusalem. This was their capital city, and the *Jewish place to *worship. There the *Jewish leaders would demand that Jesus should die.
3. Verse 19 Jesus gives more details about what will happen there. He knew that he would suffer severe mental and *physical pain. But he also knew that ‘he would become alive again on the third day’.

1. Wild Places p. 14-17 Above the Clouds Climbing the Peaks (Ice experiment)
2. Experiment: How can Frozen Water Crack Rocks?
3. Water sometimes seeps into holes or cracks in rocks.  When water freezes, the water molecules spread apart.  This means that the water increases in volume, pushing against the rock, which may even cause it to split. 
4. To demonstrate this, fill an empty quart or half-gallon milk carton with water, filling it as full as possible.  Close the carton and staple it shut.  Put the carton in the freezer overnight.  The next day, take the carton out of the freezer and describe the changes you see.  How do you explain this? 
5. Draw out on your Science notebook what you did, step 1. step 2. and so on.  Then in the bottom write a sentences on your prediction of what will happen to the water and carton.
